Reviews of Soccer Socks
Here is a review I wrote about a year ago for the Utilikilts Yahoo group about some of the different soccer socks available in the US.
I was getting socks to go with my UK, and was ordering soccer socks
online. In the US, the company "Pro Feet" manufactures a number of
models of different socks, and makes these available to many sporting
good chains (I got these at Dick's Sporting Goods at
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com).
1. Pro Feet Mens All-Sport Team Sock (3.99) (Style #112) -
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=1190512
These feel thin, and have a very noticable point where they change
materials. I got these in black, and you can really see where they
thin out on my calves. No ribs. Not recommended.
2. Pro Feet Mens Solid Color Acrylic Soccer Sock (4.99) (Style #300)
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=1190517
These are nicer, and have slightly noticable ribbing. The biggest
complaint about these is that the conversion of materials at the ankle
is very noticable. If you wear boots, you won't see it.
3. Pro Feet Mens Acrylic Multi-Sport Sock (5.99) (Style #275)
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=1190022
These are my favorite non-ribbed sock. They feel heavier than the
others, and are also the highest, going up just over my knee before
folding. These feel the nicest to wear. On the black pair, you can
see through them slightly (but nowhere nearly as badly as the first
sock here, Style 112).
4. Pro Feet Mens Solid Color Nylon Soccer Sock (5.99) (Style # 320)
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=1191615
These are the nicest ribbed socks of the group. They are nylon and
thinner than the others, but the ribs go all the way into the low-cut
shoe. These are the only socks of the group with a defined heel.
This will be my choice when I want a ribbed look. These are the least
athletic-looking of the bunch. However, they are also the shortest -
they came about 1.5 inches below my knee without folding. (I was able
to fold over every other sock).
These are all available in many colors. Hopefully, this will make
your stocking purchases a little easier.
