and...(shudder) going to the home improvement/lmber yard (where I figure I really stand a good chance to get some smart *** comments).

I have also been to Home Despot (purposeful misspelling) in several different kilts, both solid modern and tartan. No problems. Just because there are contractor-types about doesn't mean they don't like kilts too.

Just got back from Lowes (geting some plumbing stuff), sure enough, I gave out a card for UK to an interested fellow customer. He told me he has a military kilt (McKinsey I think he said), but really liked the casual (black workman's) I was wearing.
