I hope kilts are not widely adopted

I want kilts popularized for a few reasons.

First, why be selfish? Everyone here agrees that kilts are comfortable & versatile. Why should just a few of us get to experience that?

Second, I don't want to have to justify what I'm wearing, or explain it, or even discuss it. I don't care if I get noticed, and I don't want to chat about it. I'm just not a people person.

Anyway, this discussion is moot. Kilts will be accepted as everyday garments for men starting around the year 2010/2012. There is no avoiding it.

I wish I could be as confident as you are in saying that. Truth is, I doubt even another 5-7 years can bring enough change in the world as to allow it to even be considered "normal" in Scotland, let alone in the rest of the world. It may be "accepted" in Scotland but not even there is it close to being "normal".

Kilts will never be as popular as pants.Why?There's simply not enough real men in the world!!!

I truly hope that kilts will become accepted enough that their hardly noticed,but I don't see it happening any time soon.In the meantime us" normal" people will keep wearing our kilts and thinking outside the box.

1. Yes I would love to see more men in kilts, maybe they wouldn't be as grumpy and miserable as they go about their daily tasks.

2. No I wouldn't like to see more men in kilts. They to me express an individuality, a non-conformist attitude, one who thinks outside of the box. Individual thinkers wear kilts in the 21st century, and we all need more thinkers, but let me talk to a kilted gentleman instead of a very uncomfortable trousered gent.

My vote is for number 2

I am actually of the "I hope they get widely accepted" camp. While my wearing of kilts in general started with Scottish heritage, I love the practacality of the modern kilt (UK, PK, FK etc.).

I have never been one that tries to stand out and just thumb my nose at the establishment in my choice of clothing. Frankly the fact that everytime I leave my house, I have to talk to someone about my kilt, is probably the only thing I don't like about wearing one.

While people I know will say that wearing kilts has made me more outgoing (out of necessity), I sometimes wish people would leave this poor introvert alone.
