I won't list all of my guns here, but I do shoot and hunt as well. Most of my hunting is for whitetail deer, with either muzzle loaders or shiotgun slug gun. I guess my favorite is my Knight disc extreme muzzle loader. Our archery season (for deer) just started in Va, and since the game commision is allowing Crossbows for the first time this year I'm giving that a try.

Actually both titles are correct
To put it simply the Pennsylvania indicates where they were designed and built, Kentucky for where the rifles were used and earned their legendary reputation.

With that being said, the very first firearm I purchased was a .45 Flintlock "Penntucky" rifle assembled from what appears to be parts salvaged from other rifles, including a lock from an English Brown Bess musket marked 1835.
I have since purchased a 12 ga Remington 870 Wingmaster currently in a police style "riot gun" configuration (look at my avatar), an 8mm Mauser and a Springfield Armory "GI" M-1911 .45 pistol

I haven't been hunting in a kilt, but the thought has crossed my mind many times over, even though a kilt seems to be a thousand snag hazards waiting to happen! There seems to be something very romantic about wandering the woodlands while kilted, hunting for your own supper.
I could easily see myself going to the local trap & skeet shooting club while kilted.......

I have hunted with my dad. I have used my grandpa's .270 for deer and my savage 20ga for duck, quail and grouse. I haven't been hunting in a few years though. Really big game hunting got fairly boring. We weren't very "hardcore" about it and at least on the trips I went on, we were not overly succesful. Bird on the other hand is very fun. Downing a green wing teal flying upriver is quite satisfying. Quail you really have to get several of to make a meal while a couple of mallards can be plently.

Possibly even more satisfying is using steel shot in a 3 in. magnum shell with a either modified or improved modified choke. The resulting patter is tight enough that I am able to pick off skeet the rest of my family gives up on.

I'm planning on going to the range tomorrow kilted. I normaly shoot prone and doing so while wearing a kilt might be quite a show.Knowing the people I shoot with,THE QUESTION will definatly be asked.At least I'll be well armed!

Musta missed this thread the first time by. I shoot blackpowder and modern. Wife and I do Civil War skirmishing with the N-SSA (North-South Skirmish Association), shooting for fun and score using period weapons and reproductions, also we are both life members of the NRA. I am a member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) and have a ball playing cowboy, just a big kid at heart I guess. :smile:

Nether of us get to spend as much time at the range as we would really like but we do shoot as much as we can. In fact this coming weekend is the National Skirmish for the N-SSA and we, along with a couple thousand others, will be there...pouring powder, making smoke and getting filthy, great fun.

In my younger days I used to shoot at Bisley-competition up to 1200 yards with a .762 98 Mauser conversion, and earlier than that with the military-and whilst rare it was not unusual to see a kilt on the ranges.

Not a hunter-but a kilt works fine backpacking -off path in Norwegian woods-so should not be a problem.

Too hunting tartan-excellent camouflage.

So why not?

The local club is hosting a driven pheasant shoot this weekend. I volunteered my lab as a pick up dog. Think I'll go kilted.

I did get an invite to a woodcock hunt in Ireland for January, bad timing. I do hope the invite will be extended again.

I make kilts with a concealed carry pistol sleeve in them. And I have a pic or two of us at the Albany OR machine Gun shoot kilted firing tommy guns etc ......

I love to shoot and have a nice little collection of milsurp rifles that is growing. Indeed, I need a new cabinet before I can bring any more home. Sadly, I was never really introduced to big game hunting and the couple of invites I have gotten over the years ended up not panning out when both times the guy inviting me had a change of plans. :-( So I guess until I can save up for a guided deer hunting trip to learn the ropes, Bambi is safe from me.

Still, I've got this fine Swiss K31 Schmidt-Rubin 7.5mm that I'm pretty sure has never harmed a living soul... it would be nice to take this one hunting sometime.
