Auld_Argonian,
Do you have any of these yet? How thick/warm are they? They look like they might be good for winter or cooler weather, but not sure about summer time usage. Probably going to get some anyway. The only other ones I have found were at Carson Pirie Scott which are just extra long dress socks, but only in black. At least they are a wool blend.
And for anybody who wants to see these, here are the links:

Here is a selection of brand new and interesting hose I received this week from 'The Sock Company - Country' - a small company based in Wales. They have a website ( www.sock-co-country.co.uk ) which gives very little information since they sell mainly from Country Fairs/Craft Fairs, that sort of thing, and by mail order from their comprehensive brochure.

I am hoping the blue/mustard pair on the left will work well with the "X Marks" tartan when it is received and made up into a full 8 yarder.
The company does not list "Kilt Hose". Those in the photo are sold as "Tweed Gun Stockings" and "Shooting Stockings". These items are quite pricey - from £12.00 to around £45.00, but the quality is absolutely superb and some are beautifully hand-knitted.

Howdy
I found some socks on JasTownsend & Son, Inc. This site is a 18 century reproduction site for reniactors so do not be alarmed when you get there.
They call them stockigs ..100% cotton stockings the weight of an athletic sock. Over-the-knee length. Unstretched length is 25 1/2 inches from the heel to the top of the stocking. Available in Forest Green, Black, Off-white, Charcoal Gray, Maroon, White, Dark Brown and Navy. Go with the heavy cotton ones..
They also have wool ones of a medium weight. Long over-the-knee socks are 23 inches unstretched from the heel to the top of the stocking. 90% wool 10% acrylic. Gray, Off-white, Navy ,Dark Green ,or Dark Brown.
I think the fit well and go great with a kilt
Price for cotton is $8 & $20 for the wool shipping is $7 unless you want overnight
the web site is www.jastown.com
