Firstly, longjohns are underwear. I wouldn't wear them exposed under a kilt just the same as I would not wear jockey shorts on the outside of my trousers or an undershirt over a sweater (jumper).
Secondly, regardless of whether it's lonjohns or other legwear, it just looks Nancy on a fella wearing a kilt... at least in this timeline.
Thirdly, If it's so cold that you need longjohns, forget the kilt and wear them with trousers.
