okay, this is getting really scary weird. In an earlier post, I suggested that Blu, Robert and I go for a walk in the park in January/February. Maybe we should take a hit for the team and see what would work out best at -30°C and a windchill of -death°C, or not.

Archangel, I am up for some "dry" polar bear fun. Just have to coordinate the time and place. I am thinking Buffalo has the hands down coldest winters that I know of close to all of us, but I might be prejudiced, being from that area!

Hehehehehehe!
I'm sure Bear or Raphael or one of the other many Vancouverites will be along shortly to expand on this one.

Actually, Erie County PA has as bad or worse winters than Buffalo; Buffalo just gets more exposure ... in the media, that is. Wouldn't have had to add that last part it this wasn't a kilt board.
But since there are already plans for a Buffalo Kilt Night , why don't you all come up, over, or down here? According to Weather.com the average low is 24 F/-4 C. Not that cold, I know, but it's a start - and there's always the possibilty of wind chill (a concept originated by a native of Erie, PA, BTW).

Ok, being in cold Rochester Ny, i have worn my kilt to the St. Patricks Day Parade. Standing for over 3 hours kilted while it dumps a foot of snow on me. I was wearing thin(thermal/silk)socks under my kilt hose ( they came to just above my knees) , boxer briefs under a pair of flannel boxer shorts, and a nice thick sweater. I was ok, but walking into the hotel afterwards i was warm. i have also worn bicyle shorts and thin ski tights (made for men) under my kilt in the winter. I use most of the stuff that i wear for snow shoeing or xcross skiing. I always try to dress in layers..

Winter. Pittsburgh. Snow. Ice. Kilt. Longjohns. Warm? Yes.
Fashion show? No.
The kilt sheds snow better than pants, btw.

Mexpiper, maybe I need to plan a trip back home for next St. Pat's day. At least I would have some kilted company at the parade!

Sure... I'm game. I'm sure we'll have ample opportunities.
Actually, last winter I tried an "authentic" walk from the car to the White Oaks Wal*Mart (about a 2 minute walk) in a -35c wind chill and that was just about as much deepfreeze as I dared expose the boys to.
