My opinion is that the Prince Charlie jacket is strictly for formal wear, and making it out of leather, or especially denim, would just be a bad idea.
On the other hand, there are a lot of people who would like to have a casual wear kilt jacket, but don't necessarily want a tweed or other woolen jacket. Perhaps he could work on a more casual style of kilt jacket in leather or denim.
I also think an inexpensive source of diced hose in different colors is sorely needed.
