Andrew.
I'll have to check into these myself. That's an excellent price.

Just to let everyone know, I did get some of these socks. I got one pair in each color as I just couldn't pass on the price. They work great as kilt hose, with a good length and nice thickness. They even went up over my big calves without a problem. My only desire would be for them to come in more standard colors - black, navy, etc. But if you've got the clothes to match them with, they will work great.

I agree with you on the use as kilt hose; I got a pair in cinnamon that work great pulled up, or pushed down the way I prefer.
How bright are the gold ones? Is gold just another name for yellow?

They're not yellow. Gold is a good name for them, sort of a yellowish-tan. Sorry, that's the best I can describe them. They are close enough to yellow that I can probably wear them to bring out the yellow stripe in my MacIan tartan.

Hey Dave,
I held back because they are labled "seconds" which gives the mill an open door to send most anything.
Wondering if you've been able to figure out what made them "seconds" yet?
Thanks,

I'll echo Dave's endorsement. I ordered a few pair, and tried to get one of almost every color as well. However, I only ended up with the cinnamon and the dark heather green. I find them to be the best kilt hose I have so far, but since they are in somewhat different colors, matching them to a kilt can be a challenge. If they offered thes in bottle green, navy, black, and oatmeal, I would order 2-3 pairs in each. They are plenty tall enough, I have even thought that when the weather gets really cold, pulling them all the way up for the drive to work and walk into the office, then roll them when I get to my desk. They would come well above my knee, and I am not short!
Ron, they come from Sierratradingpost.com which is a "discount" site. I have not found anything wrong with the ones I have, and I know that Auld_Argonian also bought some (he posted the original link) and is happy as well. For the price, they are unbeatable.

Thanks KCW,
That word "seconds" just has me worried, but with such endorsements and the low price guess its worth the risk.
I'm thinking the cinnamon might work with my caramel UK Workman's or my blue denim UK.
Guessing the green would go well with the tan and Khaki and camo and basil kilts.
The gold might maybe work with my Macdonald of Kingsburgh which has a lot of "dark yellow" in it...don't want the hose to outshine the kilt though. ;)

Okay guys, SOLD.
Just ordered up eight pair. Two each of the cinammon and gold, four of the Green.
Call me silly, working 12 hour days I like to change my sox when I come home for lunch...so two pair is minimum for me.
Thanks for the original tip and the reassurance. Good price, only $5 a pair with the shipping.
Gonna freak out the Sierra Trading Post folks, they've sent me catalogs for years and can't remember if I ever ordered from them...probably get two catalogs now :-D

This is yet another reason why this is a great website. Thanks to all for the product testing and guidance.
Just ordered 4 pair myself. At those prices, who can resist?
hehe, yep, Riverkilt, I'm expecting a stack of STP catalogs now that I've actually placed an order!
