Tonight's the night

Well, the pack is used to me wearing something other than normal at the meetins. So far this year I've added cowboy chaps (September theme "Cub Scout Roundup") and I've worn a fire fighters suit (October theme "To the Rescue").

It's the quirk I added to the cubmaster gig.

The meeting went quite well. I'll get some pics posted soon, hopefully by Monday.

No one really made any comments. It was almost a non event. I had one boy, a second grader new to our pack, ask me why I was wearing a skirt. I just looked at him and told him it was a kilt. He replied that it was a skirt. At that point, a dad and son walk by and the dad said to his son, "There you go. There's a kilt".

I had asked the scouts to either bring or wear something appropriate to their heritage. I had 15 boys bring something in. Part of the meeting was breaking into 3 small groups and had the boys share what they brought in the small group setting.

We had also posted a large map and asked the boys to put stars on the appropriate countries.

My favorite comment was after I got home. My 4 yr old son was looking at my kilt and said "That's what pipe cleaners wear". I looked at him and asked "Who?" "Pipe cleaners. You know they play . . ." and he went on to demonstrate what a bagpipe looks like.

Well, I liked wearing the kilt. I'm not quite so sure about what my wife thought, yet. She told me later that she and some other ladies were discussing my legs. She hasn't really said one way or the other if she likes the kilt, though. Knowing her, she would rather I not wear it, but she hates drawing attention to herself.

Glad it went well for you, Tom. There's nothing like experiencing things through a child's eyes. And I suppose pipes have to be cleaned once in a while. ;)

I suspect that as you wear your kilt more often, & not much happens, your DW will just get more & more used to it.

As for the wife, the attention will be yours so no-one will be looking at her!
Anyway I reckon by what you've said so far easy does it, let her get used to the idea, better still let her think it was her idea for you to don a kilt in the first place. Winning combination yes !
