Thanks for the compliment Ham. Certainly on the few Cilts I have seen the pattern is different on the weft to the warp.
Dave .. that piece of embroidery on Ham's Cilt is the St David's Cross. On all the family tartan Cilts there is a Welsh Dragon embroidered instead. I'll post a piccy in a short while.

Simply great, I've been thinking of having a set of pipes embroidered on my kilts too.

Kilt Store offers two different 8 yard Welsh cilts, and only the more expensive one mentions the embroidered dragon on the apron. Since I ordered the less expensive one, it doesn't look like mine will have that.
