I second Daz's list and would add Fort George and the Clava Cairns which are near Culloden. Also, Bannockburn is worth a look; it's near the Wallace Monument at Stirling.
I agree, but would skip Fodor's and go for the king of travel guides. I have yet to have the Lonely Planet do me wrong, but I have been disappointed in recommendations from other travel guides.
