Sorry I have to disagree on that point Sherry. As has been discussed in several previous threads, the sporran is a pocket. If you need a pocket, you can wear a sporran... or a bum-bag for that matter. I will go without a sporran about 50% of the time as I find them somewhat uncomfortable. Besides, I tend to travel light... keys & wallet, that's about it. I always wear a sporran while wearing a jacet & tie as, like you say, it would look improper.

Still waiting for my sporran to arrive but I'll tell you: the older I get the more crap I have to tote around...reading glasses, sunglassses, cell phone, car keys, notebook(s), pens...the list goes on and on and on. I very well may take to wearing the sporran full time. I've always been on the look out for a sort of shoulder-holster catch all but when going for your reading glasses might be mistaken for going for your piece...the shoulder holster idea loses its appeal.

There's always a leather satchel, army canvas satchel, or a briefcase or messenger bag, but the latter two are probably too big for your needs.
I've always thought it's a real shame there's not some sort of small-to-medium size purses for men that are acceptable in the Western world. There's fanny packs, but they're not really anything but ultra-casual or working wear. They should come out with a tool belt for 'real' tools like your glasses and cell phone.
EDIT: A quick look online found this:

Don't know if it's big enough, but it looks cool!

Ooohh.... I don't think I'd want quite that much stuff hanging right over the family heritage.

I have just posted my views on the necessity (or not) for wearing a sporran in the parallel thread.

atmospheric risks,...
I visited Glasgow last year and I bought my first and only kilt there ( a mainly black pattern, with little green and purple squares, as I'm not scottish, nor related with any clan at all) and I was sooo happy for it, that I simply got out of the shop wearing my kilt and the belt, as I considered the sporran not necessary ( I had my bag with me) and a litle expensive for a backpacker!. Luckily I found a second hand one at a flea market 2 hours later.
It was a really f... windy day over there!, I had to be all the way taking care of my dignity all along the main centre of Glasgow and thinking of Marilyn Monroe over the subway's air exit on that glorious movie icon!!!!
P.S.: First time addressing to you all here. Sorry for my poor english and greetings from a kilted Spaniard in Valencia!...mmm just one thing,... anybody knows some "official" tartan for absolutely non celtic spaniards?

Your English is perfectly fine...as to a Valencian tartan...oy! I'm sure that one of the members who's a true tartan scholar will undoubtedly come up with one, though...these guys never cease to amaze me.

Welcome! Your english is fine. I did not even know you were posting from another country until you mentioned it. And as AA says, somebody here will probably point out many options for you to wear, but one idea is to check the municipal/governmnt web sites for Spain and Valencia to see if either has already adopted a tartan. Many countries and regions have done so.

Fantastic job of English.
I know of several tartans from Spain one being the Galacian Tartan. Now I cannot remember some of the others. Like Auld Argonian said the knowledge of the people here, never ceases to amaze.
