I was asked two or three times the other day if I was cold. As someone else mentioned, it seems to be a way to ask about the kilt without really asking about it.

None of the people have ever commented on it before, and I haven't noticed two of the three before (the third is in one of my classes).

As said in the above posts it is quite common to be asked if one is cold, but I put a rather different slant on it.

In that the kilt as such is accepted and not worthy of comment, but the questioner is making a comparison with their own light female skirts, and so assuming that the kilt wearer must be cold.

My ex had never believed that I could be warm in a kilt-to the very cold evening when we were camping and thanks to a sartorial emergency [she ripped her trousers] she borrowed-or rather stole my spare kilt. Afterwards telling me that despite the cold thankis to the kilt she nearly expired with heat exhaustion.

The question about being cold is definitely people looking for some info about the kilt but afraid to ask directly. It is funny that the fact that we decide to wear a kilt makes others afraid to ask us questions about it!

We got our first snow here overnight and when we woke up this morning, there was about an ionch of nice powder on the ground. First snow for my daughters, so we HAD to go right out and make a snowman. I threw on my UK mocker, and a heavy weight shirt, and ran out to play with them. Did not even notice the cold, although it was only about 34, so not extremely cold. Tomorrow will be worse, high of 26 with 20-30 mph winds! Yikes

Oh man, I feel for ya buddy! We set a record high temp for Nov 22 yesterday at 20C (68F), and today is shaping up to be almost as warm (17C). I have today and tomorrow off from work so I plan to dig my motorcycle out and go for a nice ride. I'll be thinking of you shivering while I'm out.

Calgary is warmer than Chicago?! Holy cow! And the weatherman said something about all this cold weather for the NE US is from a Canadian clipper.

We're quite balmy ourselves: High of 78F/25C for today. Almost as warm for Thanksgiving tomorrow.
