I definitely agree that you should wear your kilt higher. Remember, a mans waist is not down barely above the crotch no matter what Madison Avenue would have us believe.

The waist is just barely above the navel. Not only does it look funny to have so much upper body going on above the kilt belt, but worn properly a kilt is quite slimming.

    Long torso and short legs

I get the hint.. I'll hike it up more. This was the first time I'd put it on and didn't have any experienced kilt-wearers around for advice. Thanks for the comments!

Yeah, nice lookin' Kilt. That's a Stillwater Standard, correct? I think the Stillwater Standard is more comfortable and looks better than my Stillwater Heavyweights.
BTW, what kind of vest is that? I have been looking for a vest to go with a Jacobite shirt. That one looks good.

You look so natural in a kilt. Great pic. Haven't bought a Stillwater yet due to the lack of being able to customize lengths....would be like buying pants in different waist sizes with all one pant length and expecting folks to whack off their own pant legs to length.

Heck, even SportKilt offers custom length now...got my black Stewart there because of it.

But must work for SK, they seem to sell a LOT of kilts, at least to this board. Nice folks, they've put up with a multitude of my questions.

i wear my SWK HW up high, like right on my freakin navel, and my knees don't really show at all. But it's comfy anyway

The vest is leather and silk that I bought at Junkman's Daughter in Little Five Points. I actually got it for Halloween for a pirate costume I'd put together, and it was $10, so I couldn't turn it down.

I'm thinking I'll need some alteration done on the kilt because it just looks strange when I have to pull it so high up to see my knees.
