Ok, I'm not a *huge* man, but I'm a big guy. 6' and about 240 but its a very solid 240. If I lose the belly I'd be down to around 220 and at 200 I look way too thin for my frame. I think if I was to starve to death I'd still weigh about 160 just from bone and gristle.
Anyway, last year I went to a concert where there was going to be a lot of moshing. I was kilted of course, black Workmans, head wrap on, long red goatee, boots etc...
I had a spot standing up right up front by the stage, and I got there early before the first band started. The bouncer (big guy, shaved head, about 6'5", maybe 340 lbs) comes to me and says "Aw man, you arent going to hurt anyone are you? I dont want to have to fight you later..."
I was good though, didnt actually mosh at all. Not my thing even though I do like the music. Instead I used my influence to make a clear spot around my girlfriend who was still recovering from a recent surgery.
She didnt get bumped once.
Even in a venue where steel toe boots and spiked jewelry is common the kilt commands respect.
