Great! Glad to see there is some interest here! I'm looking at having time to do the homework and the deed after the first of the year. Maybe we're looking at the late January, early Feburary time frame?
Nelson RiRa's sounds good and after looking at their web site looks good too. If I have a chance, I'll be in Charlotte over Christmas, I'll check it out in person. Mind if I use you as a "local" resource?

Hey y'all I've been out-of-state for a few years but I'm moving back to NC from Philadelphia in about a month or so. I'll be north of Durham up in Person County so I'm in for Triangle-area events.
Now if only we could convince Barleyjuice to come down ...

Cool. Where in NC are you from originally? I work in Durham, so I am familiar with that side of the Triangle too. Give me a holler when you hit town.

Yeah, that sounds good for me. I certainly don't have any free time around the holidays with work and family and everything else.

If we have it on Saturday the 28th of January. The only thing we will have to deal with is a Charlotte Checkers Hockey game at 7 pm. There are less folks at
the Hockey game than the Basketball game.

I'm actually from Philly originally. Lived in northern Orange County from 97-2003 and in Jan 2003 I moved back to Philly due to the dead job market for IT guys. Paid off the property we bought in Person County (Timberlake) and we're going to build on it this year.
My in-laws live in south Durham now and we're down that way once or twice a year. The in-laws will be moving up to Person County next year after we do.
We'll definitely get something going when I'm settled-in.

Hey furrycelt
I see that you are in Raleigh! I'm over in Cary, and work in downtown Raleigh.
Nice to see a local here.
I've been away from the board for some time, but decided to check it out a few days ago. I might be in for a kilt night if the time and place are right.

While I didn't get a chance to visit the pub, I checked it out thru some of the younger members of the family and their friends. Sounds like a nice place. Got reviews that ranged from "nice upscale pub" to "I was so drunk I don't remember much about it" That from a drop dead beautiful niece that went in alone and came out with a boyfriend that she still has several years later.
I'll keep an eye open and if something else catches my eye I'll post it here.

A survey
Before we decide on exactly when, let's try to narrow down the "where". I am gonna throw out some central-ish locations for us to vote on. Instead of using the standard binary (aye/nay) system, I am going to use a more "mathematical" approach. (Mathematicians say this system may not increase the number of happy people after a vote, but it can decrease the number of people unhappy with the results.) ((and yes, I do have a habit of making things harder than they are, just ask my wife... and friends and co-workers and parents...))
The choices:
A: The Queen City (Charlotte)
B: The Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point)
C: The Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill)
D: Fayetteville
Just assign points to your preferences. Four points to your ideal choice; three to your next favorite; two to your next choice; and one point to your least favorite. After everyone has voted, the location with the most points is the winner. It may not be your first choice, but it might at least be your 2nd choice.
Here's my vote:
A:2
B:3
C:4
D:1

Not a bad idea. I'm gonna cypher on it for a bit keeping in mind the members in the west part of the state and down in the Atlanta/Stone Mountain area of GA. Charlotte is about a 5 hour drive for me but I do it all the time for work and family anyway.

NC Kilt Night
I just joined after reading the posts about a possible kilt night...I hope I haven't missed it! Here in Winston-Salem there is a resturaunt "Celtic Cafe"
http://www.thecelticcafe.com/index.html
Every friday and saturday night they feature live "celtic" music. The place has a pubby feel to it. Just a thought!
Always,
Drew
