Last Sunday, we had temperatures in the upper 20s to mid 30s with some light snow. The temperature Wednesday morning was 16, with a high of 34 then yesterday morning, the temperature was 35 and the high for the day was 62. It is 39 right now.

I'm down visiting in Sierra Vista, Arizona and it clear with highs in the mid 70s. This is not what I'm used to for Christmas. I grew up in NE Ohio where snow was the norm. I could get used to this kind of winter weather!

I leave for Scotland on Wednesday, so I've been closely watching their weather for the last couple weeks. And the Central Belt has consistently been 10° - 15° F warmer than here in Indiana. Until yesterday, when their temperatures have managed to dip a degree or two colder than our own. So much for the more moderate temperatures, I suppose.

Not like it is enough to keep me at home, though... ;)

Yesterday afternoon it was around 60F here in the foothills of the northern Cascades. Last week I woke up to 22F, so we are having really big swings of weather here also. Snow is gone and the nearby river (the Nooksack) is swelling to close to flood stage. I love the changing weather here, after 18 years in south Florida with just two seasons, hot and hotter.

We've had some rather large temperature swings here in mid-Missouri. Earlier in December we had highs's in the mid 20's F and lows in the teens and single digits. Yet on Dec. 23 we had a high of 61 F and a low of 39. Starting Monday, highs in the mid to upper 50's and then it starts a downward trend. Typical mid-Missouri December temperatures - bouncing up and down.

There was a flash flood warning in clatsup county (astoria) the other day. The odd thing about the official number for rain being .9-1.19 each day is that some places were getting 1/4" an hour for about 15 minutes at a time. It was just heavy off an on for almost a week.

I live about 20 miles south of Nashville. On Monday it was about 20F in the AM. The next two days it was about 15F in the AM. That's cold when you're out by the road waiting for the commuter bus. Then it warmed up to the mid 50's by Friday, didn't even need a jacket. It started raining yesterday and hasn't quit. Right now its 46F outside, drizzle and breezy.
Forcasters are calling for wet snow tonight and early tomorrow, north of Nashville. I'm glad I'm off.
I hope everyones Christmas was merry.
