I find the idea that any piece of cloth would, by it's presence, give anything moral acceptability absolutely hilarious!
I remember one time I was with some friends in college and a couple of them were very active in Campus Crusade for Christ. I'd even visited their bible study a few times and found the conversation very stimulating even if I thought the group leader's interpretations rather simplistic.
Anyway, as we walked down the street a guy ran by exercising and he was wearing the shortest little shorts with slits up the side so they didn't really hide any leg at all.
One of the CCC guys commented on how the shorts were immoral because they could "incite sinful thoughts."
So of course I couldn't resist and said that the trouble wasn't with the guy wearing the shorts, it was with him since he obviously keep his thoughts from becoming sinful!
Of course, everyone else thought it was hilarious and he got very upset.
No doubt also the wearing of trousers or jeans would incite sinful thoughts in some people as these clothes exhibit the outline of the crotch whereas a kilt and sporran are more modest as they conceal the body outline.
I thought that I was "flashy" enough with or without falshes.
Never encounted the morality factor of wearing them. Sometimes I wonder where people get their ideas? I have strange enough thinking anyway without someone adding more strangeness to the fodder.
I also wear the vasque/smartwool combo when hiking, okay whenever. And have a pair of jeans I only wear in the company of my lovely bride as to have someone to defend my honor from loose women.
I've always thought flashes were a rather formal, fussy decoration--so tho I always wear elastic under the sock top to keep them up, I only use the flashes on dress-up occasions.
What sort of psychological profile can be derived from that?

What's this "keep em up" thing y'all are talking about? I just push 'em down!
...'coure, I don't dress up if I can help it either! ;)
I've always thought that flashing was immoral... ;)
Seriously, though... the entire concept that any CLOTHING is immoral makes me chortle. It's the thoughts of the person viewing the clothing where the morality or immorality comes out.
And as far as Ann Arbor goes, when Michiganders (of which I am one) are asked if they've been to Paris, it is perfectly acceptable for them to respond with "No, but I've been to Ann Arbor."
