    Which "ish" ?

Here in Mid-Mich most folks dont think of 'Scottish'. They ask if you're Irish.

Which 'ish' do they think of where you are?

Scottish up here in da UP. There were quite a few Irish that settled up here back in the day, so most people seem to know the difference.

Although there are a lot of Scots in the area I live, most people think I'm Irish. This was also the case when I lived in Florida. It seems to most people that the kilt is an Irish thing. When I'm asked, I politely reply that yes, I'm Irish, but the kilt is Scottish, and I also have Scottish heritage.

Oh I get the Irish thing all the time. It surprises me too since North Carolina is supposed to have a heavy Scottish background. I guess it has to do with how our culture is shaped by mass/pop-media. I'm never insulted by it. Anything Celtic is grand!

My county was heavily settled by Scots. They know the difference. There are not a lot of us in kilts, however.

Most ask if I'm Irish, but what can you expect with all the Dutch heritage around here.

I live right down the street from a neighborhood that all the street names a Scottish, there is Caldonia Dr., Thistle Ln., Burns Rd., I think there is a Wallace too and the list goes on and on
So I get is that a skirt, are you Irish, or What clan is that tartan.
