    Killians,

Reston VA (about 20 miles west of Wash DC) is not exactly a hot bed of kilting. In fact it is known to some as Stepford. Other than razzing from friends all I've gotten (when I got ANYTHING) has been positive. So go for it!

    Scots in Utah...

Not to many reasons for wearing a kilt in Utah...
You might want to take a look at this web site then:

    http://www.utahscots.org/home.html

Looks like there's plenty of opportunities to wear a kilt in Utah...

    Count on it

    Prester John,
There are no current plans to be in Ohio, but you can count on my letting you know when there are.

Welcome to the forum buddy. The way I look at it, and Im probably wrong but it makes me happy, is...screw the community where you live. If they cant deal with it, thats their problem. Strap on your kilt and walk out there with confidence!

    Welcome to the board.
Don't worry too much about the odd narrow minded pea brain that you come across, just remember if someone has a problem with your kilt its their problem not yours. All the compliments you'll hear will drown out the odd complaint, so be comfortable, be proud, and enjoy the attention.

    Welcome Kiliansirishred

Most of my family filtered through Ohio back when it was frontier. Most moved on. Did have a great great grandfather that was a "Squirrel Hunter" during John Hunt Morgan's raids and later did a 90 day hitch defending Washington D.C. against Jubal Early's troops with the 136th Ohio Infantry.

My little sister is a professor at Oberlin Conservatory...been there for years.

Someday I'm gonna wander Ohio looking up all the old ancestoral lands and dig for more information on my ancestors....kilted of course.

Have a USAK semi-traditional in Ireland's National somewhere in the pipeline.

Another great "Irish" kilt is the Utilikilt Caramel Workman's. Its close to a saffron color and goes well with my Irish tartan baja and green Northern Arizona Irish Foundation and other Irish related green t-shirts. There are pics of the Caramel UK Workman's in my gallery if you're interested.

When I bought it didn't think I'd wear it much since it wasn't a common color. But found it's a great "saffron lookalike" and blends perfectly with the Navajo sandstone cliffs here in Arizona...so I get both a local look and a heritage look from it.
