It's looking like it'd be something along the lines of about $175, maybe up to $200. I'm trying to keep it as affordable as possible. It depends on stuff like Barb's schedule, how many folks sign up (Do we need more sewing machines?) and stuff like that. What material you want to bring for your kilt, or if you want to purchase out of Steve's stock is up to the individual.

There are hotels in Victoria that can be found for around $80 a night, in USA dollars. We might be able to arrange a package deal if enough of us all stay in the same place. I don't know how close those are to Steve's shop. Food is up to each individual person.

HOLD on this....new information has come to light, and we're not sure on timing. Still need more information, so watch this space. It **MIGHT** be in this price range, but might be a fair bit more, and organized differently. Not sure, yet.

I just got off the phone with Steve. If there is interest, I might be persuaded to assist on leather kilt making. I'm looking at available dates.
    This could be a blast!

To all those interested in attending Kilt Kamp, I have this update.

We are currently thinking of a three to five day Kamp. We will use an open tutor format where there are subject matter experts available to answer you questions, offer hints and tips and hold short classes. This will not be a make your own kilt type of camp.

On the roster will be, (subject to timing and availability) Barb Tewksbury for Traditional Kiltmaking, Myself for Contemporary Kiltmaking, Robert Pell of R-Kilt fame for Leather Kiltmaking, Matt Newsome for Kilt and Tartan History (and also hopefully box-pleated Kiltmaking.

Included in your admission price will be acess to all these people. Acess to my shop if you want to actually do some sewing. All the coffee and cookies you can eat and drink. A dinner at one of Victoria's fine establishments. A Kilt Night with a local Celtic Band. A guided tour of the Royal BC Museum (If you haven't heard my talk on Totem Poles your in for a treat). And all the tourist things this city is famous for.

If your would like to attend, please send my some dates between June and August that would be good for you. I have started a calendar and will check off dates until we come up with one that will suit most of you.

Oh yea, I asked Rocky and Kelly to attend, but due to a very heavy show and shop schedule, will be unable to cover Casual Kiltmaking.

If anyone sees Bear, ask him if he would be interested.

If you cannot attend this year, we hope to make this an annual event and hope that next year we can find an East coast venue.

    Hi folks

Because so many messages are posted to the General Kilt Talk topic and things tend to scroll to the bottom really fast, and because Steve has asked for e-mails to him rather than replies to the board (which keeps a topic higher on the list), I'm going to post Steve's request on both the Trad Kilt and Contemp kilt topics. I hope this is OK with the moderator! If not, I apologize in advance.

    UPDATE - UPDATE!!!

It seems that the week of July 21 thru 28 will work for those who responded.

Everyone else please chime in here and tell me what you think of the weekend of July 21, 22, 23 (Fri, Sat, Sun).

    It also seems that the price of a three day camp will come in at about $250.00 per person. (if at least 6 attend) This will offset the costs of those things I promised to provide which include;

One-on-one tutoring on Traditional Kiltmaking with Barb Tewksbury.

One-on one tutoring on Contemporary Kiltmaking with Me.

Possible attendance for tutoring and teaching by Matt Newsome.

Possible attendance for tutoring in Leather Kiltmaking by Robert Pell.

Possible tutoring in Casual (machine sewn) Kiltmaking.

Classes in Making your own Argile Jacket.

Classes in Making your own Jacobite style shirt.

See kilt hose made on an antique hand-cranked sock making machine.

A kilt table with as many different kiltmakers work available as we can find.
(someone offer to loan us a AK, a 2006 SWK, A Union Kilt, and any others you may have.)

A dinner at Shenanigans pub followed by a Kilt Night to the music of "The
    Eccelstons".

A door prize of a free Freedom Kilt. Custom made to your specifications.

A free Freedom Kilt T-shirt for each participant.

All the free time in Victoria that you want for visiting, shopping, and sightseeing.

And of course the real reason people come to Victoria, My Wife Bobbie's world famous Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies.
