Kilt night in NC?

Charlotte is a bit far for me (I know Ian...I'm actually closer than you..but...).

It would cost me a full tank of gas just to get their and back. I'm not so sure about joining all of you.

The only way I might be able to do it is to combine it with a trip to one of the mall's out there. My wife needs her wedding rings re-sized smaller, and Charlotte is the closest store. But...I know she'd want to come along.

Have some thinking to do on this. Saturday night would probably work best for me, but I'd have to request it off from work just to be safe. I'd also more than likely drive back Saturday night, so it wouldn't be a long visit for me.

If you guys decide on a date, I'll let you know.

Just an update... I haven't heard from the first employer from friday (though I ended up having a second phone interview with a larger group of people friday afternoon at the same company). I had a phone interview today with the team leader for a group at another company, who has said 100% he is sure he wants to go to the trouble of flying me down for an interview in person next week with the whole team and his own manager. This phone interview went really well and while he didn't tell me the job was mine, he did tell me he was very pleased and will endorse me to his boss (who is the one with final say). The big boss is on vacation in the Bahamas which is why I can't come down there until next week.

If I score this one, I can't imagine it starting much later than Feb 6. So I'm thinking I'll probably be moved in before Feb 6.

I never did broach the subject of wearing the kilt to work... I'm playing it safe this time. :-D

Things are happening fast now.

I will be in Durham for interviews with two companies tomorrow through saturday.

I'm about 90% sure I'm moving down next week. The only way this wouldn't happen is if neither of the two potential employers make an offer. One of them is footing the bill for me to come down, so they are already partly commited.

Hey Brian, Charlotte is not that far away. From Cary, I could get there in 2.5 hours if you take US64 then NC49. It's a straight shot; that's the way I would go if I wasn't gonna pick up KiltedTurtle in Winston-Salem.

Magnus, Congrats! Hearing your good news makes me feel better about my job situation for this area.

All, I know there are other Xmarkers around this geographic area that I have not chimed in on this thread. Please pester them to take interest in the NC Kilt Night. I would rattle the cages if I was less nascent in the forum.

NOTA BENE: If you are in the area and fail to attend NC Kilt Night, you will be chased down with a leaf blower. Keep in mind that it is still winter in this hemisphere.

But it is a bit further still than I would prefer to travel, especially with gas prices and my pathetic paycheck.

RiRa's is good but on a Saturday it gets really packed and
is a trendy place to hang out. So I'll call some friends and see.

Well I live outside of Boone so Charlotte is a little over an hour and a half away so Charlotte would be good for me. I also have family that I visit often in Durham (my home town) so Durham is also good. As a side note I was once an IT person in the triangle and got out of it four years ago and have never looked back. I know how competitive the job market is there and I feel for you.

UPDATE

I got a job in the Triangle that starts 2/13. I will be moving down to Durham next weekend.

One of my friends was so fired up, he immediately called Kelly @ USA Kilts and ordered a kilt for St Patty's Day celebrations. So for those in the Triangle, expect some sort of kilt night discussion for that weekend.

Otherwise, I'll be down to bring a tasty of Philly kilt nights to the Old North State shortly. It's a done deal.
