Thanks, everyone. The event was the statewide convention of the New York State Jaycees. It was the year-end convention, so they had an awards banquet and the installation of new officers.
I'm a former officer and an officer in an affiliated organization, so I help out when I can.
Graham, the tartan is Scottish Borderland, #5359 in the ITI. Of course, I got lots of nice comments, a few good-natured "nice dress" comments and a few people who asked "the question." People were really amazed when I opened the champagne bottles with my dirk. Actually, I was a little surprised that it worked, myself. I had read about it, but never tried it before.

Bob,
Please explain how to open a champagne bottle with a dirk. I have never heard of this method.
