I sent the author an e-mail regarding the articles's statement that kilts were the rage in Scotland before Columbus hit the New World, pointing out that he was off by a century, give or take. He responded (very politely, I might add) that there seemed to be some disagreement, and that he had seen mention of the kilt being popular back to the 10th century. I refered him to McClintock's book as well as the Scottish Tartan Authorty and the Museum in Franklin, NC.
Bryan...I wonder if Matt will hear from him?...
