it took my putty approx 2 years to break in, with ALOT of abuse. it has settled into more of a moleskin feel which is nice on those cooler nights

I own 6 AK's one of every color except the camo and green. all are damn near bulletproof and should be arounbd for a long time. mine have survived through concerts (with me singing and getting tossed over the drum kit), falling out of the back of trucks, being lit on fire, getting completely snookered on tequila, baby vomit and other assorted baby fluids, 2 baby births, numerous bar brawls, dropped lit cigars in the lap, strip clubs, and church. they have all survivedwith flying colors and I plan to get one or two more when a new color comes in that I like.

BTW, I can also say the same things about my 3 USAKilts, the latest trial for them was the new years eve Gwar concert, the blood didnt come out of my skin for 2 weeks, but came right out of my USAK.

I have two Amerikilts - a Tan (2002) and a Olive Green (2003) - and eleven Utilikilts. I think that says which I prefer! Maybe the AK fabrics have changed since I got mine, but they were very soft and 'giving' when new and I'm afraid I prefer something with a little more 'guts' in it to wear - such as my UKs. The Amerikilts DO crease terribly and for that reason I could never wear one all day without whipping it off for a quick ironing. Having said that, the AKs are very comfortable, although I dislike the matching fabric 'sporrans' and, in fact, have never worn either of mine in public. In the British climate, the AKs are strictly for summer wear whilst I can easily wear the heavier UKs all year round.

Full marks to Mike Butler, nevertheless, for providing yet another valuable alternative to the dreaded t------s!

Ian, please, give me some warning! Although, I had the same chance to misinterpret the spacing as you. Maybe you are just more literal or twisted than I am??

Not trying to hijack the thread, but... you GOTTA LOVE the Teflon Coating! That may be a new "sales pitch" for 20 somethings... "You like Gwar? Well this kilt will repel stains form their fake blood!" HAHAHAHA
