I've come to a conclusion ..
Over the last two weeks I have been to three events where I have been surrounded by mainly men in a men's domain. On each occasion my Cilt has never been a source of conversation or concern to anyone. I have come to my own conclusion that ’real men’ know that it takes a ’real man’ to wear a Kilt/Cilt if he so wishes to. All this will certainly make any ‘look’ or ‘remark’ said by anyone trying to be clever when out and about in future rather pathetic and meaningless in comparison. Hope this is of some further help for those who are still unsure about wearing their Kilt/Cilt out and about whether it be regularily or just now and again.

Good to hear! These are the sort of comments that are worth their weight in gold to us newcomers to kilt-wearing!!!
Thanks, Derek :-D

As we march to a different drummer
Indeed. I sometimes i go into situations with a bit of uneasyness.
Typically the stress is brought on by myself. I have never had trouble with mens attitudes, comments etc. Women on the other hand, will try to lift your kilt from time to time. Damn Sexual harrasment...

Derek,
Yes going about with apprehension about wearing the Cilt is sometimes an overblown feeling on our part. I find that guys in particular love it, sort of wishing that they were able to wear one.

Being kilted full time since August here in mid-Missouri, I find that men usually do not say anything, or if they do, it's complimentary. Women, on the otherhand have given me many compliments. So far, I've had no derogatory remarks from either men or women. Two men have inquired as to where they could get a kilt. I've been quite amazed. While I'm always aware of the fact that I'm wearing a kilt, I've become totally confident in wearing one in public.
Pure speculation on my part, but I think that many of the men that see me wearing a kilt secretly wish they had the confidence to wear one also.

You Derek, have put into words what all men know in their hearts. Their 'Bravehearts'.
Chris.
Theodore Roosevelt said;
"Far greater it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered with failure than to take ranks with those poor, timid souls who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in that grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat".

I've found the same thing, Derek. Among brawny athletic-types ("manly men") I've only found admiration. Among the preppy set ("trying to fit in") set I get the most comments, as they try to raise themselves a notch in others' eyes.
One of the most brawny men I know, an ex-Ranger, was one of the most vocal advocates of kilts. He's pictured many times on Sport Kilt's photo page (Carlos).

Me and my mates are there to
Sportkilt gallery. We are the group of three "Rich Mike and Will at the lab".
Mike is 6ft 10 in. 400 plus pounds. Sport kilt actually makes a kilt to fit him.
Nobody would dare make dispariging comments to him...LOL.

As Darrell put it
'While I'm always aware of the fact that I'm wearing a kilt, I've become totally confident in wearing one in public'.
That goes for me as well and I guess quite a few here on X Marks too.

It's like when I was in grand jury duty and wearing my kilts. One of fellow jurors said, "Well obviously you don't have any confidence issues given what you've been wearing...."
