Thanks for the link to Dunedin Scottish, KiltedCodeWarrier. According to the site, they rent Black Watch, Gordon Modern, Holyrood, MacKenzie Ancient and National Millennium.

If you are in Vancouver and just want to rent, why not just check out Tartantown on North Road. http://www.tartantown.com/rentals.htm
Their rentals are $169 for 1-3 days and include:
Scottish National, Royal Stewart or Monarch of the Glen kilt
Prince Charlie Jacket & Vest,
Sporran with Sporran Chain,
Garter Flashes, Bow Tie, and
Ghillie Brogue Shoes.
You will have to spend the $20 and get a pair of kilt hose though.
As another option, check out House of MacLaren in Gastown. http://www.geocities.com/houseofmcla...g/rentals.html
Or try http://www.burnetts-struth.com/index.asp or http://www.hector-russell.ca/ both in Ontario.

Thanks Colin. I didn't know Tartantown. None of your options mention the tartans I am interested in, but I shall contact them. Burnett's & Struth's web site is being upgraded, and a lot of the links don't work. House of McLaren's site is vague, which just means I'll have to pick up the telephone.
BTW, I am Tsawwassen.

I don't know of any in your area, but I know a few people that have rented from Tartantown and liked the service. They are expensive to buy, but their rental price is pretty good. Unforuntaley it is Royal Stewart. Personnaly I like the Monarch of the Glen tartan
Welcome to the forum by the way.

What Tartan are you thinking about renting?
For $169 US plus shipping, you probably will be spending an upward of $250 US on the rental. It is kind of expensive, don't you think? What is the budget you are working on right now. It may be possible to purchase a used package for around $200 US.

Raphael,
Do you know of a place that sells used packages for about that price?

kiltrental offers a deal where the cost of your rental can be put towards purchasing a used kilt (or whatever you rented). I am not certain the exact details, but I think they are listed on the website. She does sell used items.

ebay?
$200 may be pushing it for the whole outfit, but it is possible to get used kilt for under $200 US and rent the jacket. and I may have a dress sporran to let go for cheap. Every thing is possible.

Which Stewart tartan are you looking for in particular? Here are a few options http://kiltstore.net/sr_swhdr_eighty...=%27Stewart%27
You may run into a issue when trying to rent, as few (if any) places carry a really wide selection of tartans for rent. It is usually the generic tartans that are available. If you are just trying to see how much you enjoy wearing Highland Dress, it may be easier to just rent the generic (Royal Stewart) for the experience. When it comes time to purchase a kilt, your tartan options will than be endless.
Alternatively, Stillwater sells the Black Stewart in Standard version for $60-$80 US http://www.stillwaterkilts.com/stdkilt.html Get the 2006 model though. Pair that with the Sporran Raphael may have for sale, some hose and flashes, and a regualr dress shirt and casual-formal is done.

Has anyone ever tried http://www.pipelinebagpipes.com/outfits/ for a kilt rental? They are primarily a bagpipe vendor but they also have full formal kilt rentals at what seems like a very reasonable price.
I guess I'll let the cat out of the bag here and I'll post again in the Announcements section. Nopadon and I have decided that after 9 years together that we will have a full marriage ceremony in our church. So we'll be wed on Sept. 9, 2006, and I'm planning on having my groomsmen kilted. I'm thinking about Pipeline because the price seems really good and the the tartan they describe as Celtic Crossings is damn close to an Ancient MacKay.
