I agree with Bubba, contact the Regimental Associations. But, I will say, that the average squaddie would not be impressed. One of the groups I hang out on is www.arrse.co.uk, which is the British Army Rumour Service Board. Unofficial, obviously.

XMarks has even been mentioned once or twice, and the comments were rather uncomplimentary. Can't say why, but your average squaddie is extremely jealous of his place in the grand scheme.
There is nothing wrong with the proper wearing of the kilt.

The people there though, need help.
Mad as a bag of ferrets
are just two of the comments.

Better mad as a bag of ferrets than mentally constipated.

Having flown many of said squaddies over NI back in the day, many are not exactly pulling a full load. Great soldiers, mind you. I can say that that particular discussion died very quickly, whereas most go on for days or weeks.

I also recall comments re. a group in the States calling themselves "The Black Watch", although I cannot recall if they were a pipe band or something else.

That's a difficult site to try and skim over to understand what they are about.

So do they not like Americans wearing kilts? or what's their issue?

I could however see a need to adjust the names to be merely a representation of the regiment rather than the actual name.

Its a site where serving and retired members of HM's British Forces hang out. Its not an anti-American thing (or Septics, or Spams, as you boys are known by HM's Forces). Remember, as I said, that particular thread died VERY quickly. Brits, especially in the Army, are leery of those who emulate their histories. The term Walt is used, referring to Walter Mitty.

    Check with the Associations.
