It's heavyweight stuff, so I'll probably make a 5 or 6 yard kilt instead of an 8 yard one.
Nothing wrong with a full 8 yards 16oz kilt, when you're used to poly/cotton or light weight wool, 16oz might sound like a medieval suit of armor, but it's very comfortable. It doesn't feel heavy when you wear it...not at all.
With 8 yards you have the ultimate swoosh/swing...and it's something special...a truckload of deep pleats. They move when you move, it's a sensation really.
When you have enough fabric to make 8 yards...go for it, you'll love it!
