Well, the only kilts I had last summer were Stillwater Acrylic kilts, so I can't make a comparison. However, if the temperature was very warm, these kilts got hot. My legs were plenty cool, but it got real hot around the waistband.

I've got some a lightweight wool traditional kilt now, plus one of Matt's box pleated that I will try this summer.
