Steve, you tease us on multiple fronts my friend. Sopping up the drool from my keyboard.

I know one of the local kiltmakers here (not Bear) tried ordering some argyles and PCs from his supplier in Pakistan. I was really interested in ordering one, but he told me that the quality was so poor he would not sell them to anyone.
Just a personal opinion here, but I am not a fan of the military replica jackets. I was never in the military so I wouldn't wear one to begin with, but it kind of looks like a mix of military and civilian wear in a context that never existed. Just not my cup of tea, but than again I like rugby shirts and sweaters (jumpers) and don't often wear jackets.
I do agree that a casual (yet dressy) style jacket needs to be readily available and kind of is throught 21st century kilts from what I have seen. The other option is to take a picture or diminsions to a suit store and have them alter it. Or, go pick up the Simplicity kilt pattern which also has an argyle type jacket pattern. It's Simplicity Pattern 5029 http://i15.ebayimg.com/02/i/06/6f/bf/2d_1.JPG
