Interesting. A good friend of mine has a rabbit fur sporran from Edinburgh that always makes him the center of attention. I assume from what I have seen available on line that the rabbit fur sporrans is a bit cheaper than the seal skin.
I like the look of the seal skin and am really looking forward to the delivery. I just guess that Sir Paul McCartny and I can't become friends now

Besides , who can fight the jones off long enough to save up enough to buy a package all at once? Not I.

Colin,
That is one nice looking sporran. My rabbit fur sporran is jealous.

Well this thread just bursted my bubble because I was planning on buying this dress sporran made out of seal skin cus I like the short hair ones a lot better than the furry ones. What is an alternative fur that is also short fur like seal skin?

I saw one on eBay that claimed to be fake seal skin. When I emailed them it was actually goat skin. It had short hair at least.

I got an email from David at Scottishkilts.net this morning. The sporran is still on it's way from the manufacturer and should be in my hands by next Monday. I asked for the cross chains on the sporran instead of the usual straight chains. This would work well if I got it next Monday. Today, I quit smoking (I was off for a year and a bit and slipped for about 8 months) so that will be a nice 1 week reward.

Many places, when they see the sporran is being shipped to the US will make the sporran with a different type of fur. I'm not sure what kind though.

A very nice dress sporran Colin, and with the crossed chains it will look very elegant. I have seen the crossed chains on a couple of other sites and thought that the dress sporran i have my eye on would look rather dashing with the chain crossed. [ the cantcle has an embossed Saltire and Lion Rampant on a blue background design]. Good luck on the quit smoking, think of all the little extras you will be able to get with the money you save by not smoking.
