Pipe Majors insist on the 3" in 4" up rule, but if you get it right theyll just find something else wrong!

Personally, I like to line my pins up with a vertical strip in the kilt that way I can be certain that it is straight.

    Welcome aboard,

My kilt pins just go kinda sorta there, depending on the tartan pattern in the area. Do try to keep them vertical though.

And, just to add an addiction to an addiction...ya gotta buy a seperate kilt pin for each kilt so you can leave it in once you get the placement right and you don't have to chew you kilt aprons up moving one pin from kilt to kilt.

So, enjoy your sub-addiction to your main kilt addiction too

Or, don't wear it. I haven't worn a Kilt pin in many years. But then I never was into any kind of jewelery until only recently.

Really, vertical? hhmmm everyone says mine is low, but no one ever said anything bad about it being diagonal.
I have it diagonal across a square on the apron.

Added-pinned to the front apron only

I got into the conversation of what exactly is the kilt pin supposed to be pinned to? Is it just for the front of the kilt or does it hit the fabric behind the front?? Would love to know how people pin it and what they pin it to.....

The only thing I know for certain is that the kilt pin only goes through the apron. Also It's your kilt pin anywhere you feel that it looks good.(As long as it is in the lower corner, somewhere) Enjoy!
