It looks fine the way it is.

I can;t believe you have to align the different metal's.

    Sometimes imperfection is perfection.

The only thing I would say is change the sprran chain to a leather strap (as someone has pointed out) and it'd look great.

All in all, I reckon he looks rather 'proud' in his kilt, straight lines or not.

Hell, I always check my gig line when dressing, being ex-military. Still it often shifts a bit when moving around, the sporran especially. All in all I think you look great, though I'm not all that crazy about the white or off white hose.

The sporran however is fantastic looking, I hope mine turns out that well if it ever arrives.

Now we gotta talk about your avatar, this being the first time I've seen a picture of you I was kinda shocked. I was expecting Eric Estrada. Actually I guess I'm kinda relieved, Eric Estrada in a kilt is a scary thought.

Thanks for all the ideas and advice. I appreciate it.

I will say this about alignment....I really do check the gig line when I am working, but without a fly, things are a little more difficult. I was in ahurry when the pic was taken, and my wife had told me that the sporran was too low, which may account for the misalignment. I had to do a quick adjust, and the chain does not have a buckle.

I'll post more pics and get more ideas. Thanks again!

    Thumbs up

Looks good. The sporran , what can i say 'Beaut Mate', and i like the Tartan. Lining things up, well that comes with experiance. I have to go along with the comment about trad; kilts being up near the ribs,i find it a little too high for my tastes, next one i will have made a little shorter, now that i'm more experianced in Kilt wearing, thanks to X Marks.

I think you look great. Yeah things are a little out of alignment but I find that I have to recheck my belt & sporran every so often anyway to keep them in alignment. I have a funny gait when I walk because of my injury and it has a habit of causing my sporran to slip to the right.

Personally, I like wider belts with a bigger buckle with my kilts. I find it helps to create a stronger divider between kilt & shirt, but then I like the bigger buckle because it helps to break the strong horizontal and minimize the appearence of being wider around the middle than I actually am.

Oh, and I would wear the belt a little higher since you wear the kilt up at the traditional height.

But you do look cute. I bet you're a real lady killer when you hit the pub dressed like that. Just make sure you only get charged, never convicted!!!

You look great. A visit to the Chiropractor can get you back in alignment (OK I know that I know too many of those "bone crackers")

I try to leave the house all aligned, but going through my daily tasks things go awry, and I really don't give it much thought.

    WHY I AM CROOKED:

    1. My house, where the pic was taken, is falling off the foundation.

    2. We were having an earthquake (I know, I live in Nebraska, but I'm trying)

    3. I do not have a kilt pin on, and that throws everything all jabberwocky.

I rarely wear a shirt tucked in, so I did not spend the extra for a wider kilt belt. I will wear it higher, though, from now on.

I'm just shocked to see a Nebraskan who's not all decked out in Husker red...!

It looks great to me. If you're doing much more than standing in one spot, I wouldn't expect "gig" lines to last - especially with a sporran.

By the way, what's the tartan?

    Streetcar,

The tartan is Irish American. This heavyweight wool 5-yard kilt is on sale for $104.93 for a limited time. See here:
