...yesterday afternoon, after the very nice looking lady at Subway said "I really like your kilt", twice, with a definite emphasis on the "really", she gave me lots of extra turkey and a free cookie.
I wore my MacDonald 6-yard (not a tank, but definitely a humvee) all day yesterday at school (workday...can't wear it with students on campus), then to the community college for a three hour class yesterday evening. Three ladies in the class next door came to my room and asked lots of questions, showered me with compliments, and one said that she intended to get one for her husband.
All in all a very nice day...
...and I certainly wish I had done this thirty years ago. I can't remember ever not wanting a kilt, but knew that I couldn't afford one and the accessories. Now that I can make most of my gear and have discovered modest-priced garments, I'm ready to make it a very regular part of my life.
I appreciate the class of a full-wool hand-stitched tank, but I hope I never get to the point where I snub the less expensive alternatives that allow folks like me to participate in my heritage.
