In need of some advice...

I would agree with KCW, but would disagree with the black hose. The navy and bottle green, while both dark, will look better than the black. The Black Watch is such a dark tartan that the black will make it even darker. As it has also been pointed out here before, too much dark colour below and it may make the person look bottom heavy. You could also go for Stone or Oatmeal coloured hose.

For shoes, find yourself a nice pair of Oxfords ( http://image.sears.ca/icat/63/03/673...l=230&cvt=jpeg ) or just some nice black dress shoes. Whenever I hear loafers, I always think of those ugly *** penny loafers with the tassles on them that, when worn with white socks, add to the rumour that men can't dress well.

Another possibility would be a lovat green/olive coloured hose, since that is what the Black Watch wears for No. 2 dress (rougly equivalent to civilian day wear).

btw, I should take this opportunity to point out that the name of the regiment is The Black Watch (two words) -- I frequently see "Blackwatch", which is not correct.

I agree with Colin... Bottle green or navy hose... NOT black. To me (IMHO), black hose look more like "leggings" than hose.

Whichever you choose... pick the opposite color flash. Green hose with Navy flash or Navy hose with Green flash looks VERY smart.

Another option... go with Cream hose and EITHER flash.

I now plan on getting a pair of black hose and I already have some white flashes to go with them but I have an idea that with my Macleod of Harris Hunting 'tank' and my black Argyle jacket it should make a great but unusual outfit. What think you?
Pretty dressy I know but not a bad one for a funeral. I would probably substitute a black tie for a funeral, I don't know.

Not quite sure what MacLeod of Harris Hunting looks like (a quick search pulled up two very different colorways - look @ #70 & #71 here ) but all that black has visions of a kilted mafiosa gunning - i mean RUNNING thru my head...

I have both #70 & #71. Number 71 is the Macleod Ancient and the Number 70 is the Macleod of Harris, also my avitar and that's the one that I'd wear with the outfit.

Funny... I was thinking the same thing. Thanks for the advice. I plan on going to the mall this weekend and I'll keep out an eye for some proper footwear.
