Thanks for the comments on the sporran. It was the second one I made. I can post closeups for any who are interested in its construction.
Western NC was heavily influenced by Scots-Irish immigration. Read Matt Newsome's great article to learn more.

There are many Presbyterian churches in the region that hold kirkin' services. Kilts are not too uncommon in those and other special occasions here, but it would be an exaggeration to say that they are common everyday wear. I'm on a crusade to change that
I'll be teaching my college class this evening, and I'll be in the MacDonald, probably with a navy polo shirt.
