Mine is the MacIan tartan, chosen because my closest Scottish link was my dad's mother who was a McKean, a variation of MacIan.

I obtained the avatar by scanning the apron of my kilt. The computer generated image in the above link, doesn't quite look the same as it does in the flesh.

Mine is the Macneil of Barra tartan with Macneil clan badge owerlaid.

Yes, I did began my posting about tartan "avatars," but decided that it might be interesting to allow for others. (Some, like me, may not use a tartan as their avatar since their particular tartan "swatch" does not render well in such a small space.)
Then I went on and threw out that huge image of the Maine State tartan, which is not my avatar. So, I'd say, as long as the site moderators don't mind and the bandwidth can handle it, let's look at all sorts of interesting tartans.
If your tartan has a story, I invite you to relate it.
