Im a little late but wanted to express my admiration of you sewing/kilt making skills. It looks VERY good in the photos, and there is something to be said about the way you feel when someone compliments/asks about where the kilt came from.

I just have three things to add to this thread...
1) Very good job there. You do it 100% by hand or did a machine help you?
2) I'm jealous as all get out. I've now produced two true kilts by my own hand. One is the same material as the kilt in my avatar. The other looks like such:

Neither looks as nice as yours.
3) What is this book of which you speak? How do I score a copy? Is it much more detailed than this web page?

100% by hand.

Why, thank you! I'm as surprised as anyone how well it turned out.

It's The Art of Kiltmaking by Barb Tewksbury and Elsie Stuehmeyer. Barb is one of our resident kiltmakers. The book is far more comprehensive than that website and includes dozens of diagrams and photographs. If you're going to make your own kilt and can't apprentice with someone, I would consider it indespensible!
