Well, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle balck.........(personal opinion...to each their own). Sounds like you just ran across a bad apple though. I am impressed by the mutual respect shown between the majority of the different kiltmakers on this forum. There may be some underlaying competition and bad feelings, but I don't get it from the guys (and gals) here.

It's not about the higher alcohol content, it's about the stronger flavor. It's like an I.P.A. taken to the nth degree. If you like a bitter beer (heavy on the hops), like I do, it's definately one to try.

If I were more quick-witted I'd have said "Oh, do you have some 16 oz. wool tartan kilts that aren't on display?"

Kiltlifter's 6% alcohol ... <taking a sip>
The AB ale's fairly hoppy, IIRC. Kiltlifter's malty, on the other end of the spectrum.

I sent a note to the UK volounteer sales force leader (Nate Soloman) about this thread.
His Reply
Thats a real downer man...
We fully support every fellow kilt maker, utilitarian or not. Man deserves options.
I wish everyone could see that.
I dont really have time to sign up for a message board or chat room... Are you going to post anything?

Thanks for the thoughtful responses Gents, next time I'm wearing my NK right up to him again and if he makes such a comment I'll ask him where his "real" kilts are and/or inform him that I have 7 tartans holding down hangers in my closet, maybe even that I used to have a UK ...

Unfortunatly when you ask for volunteer staff at the events, you do not always get the best people to PROMOTE your product. That kind of attitude would turn anybody off. A better approach would be to try to show why THEIR product is better, or at least better for YOU!

Piss-poor marketing is what it is...Best way to turn someone off about your product is claim the competitor is inferior in an arrogant and over-bearing manner.
Guess these guys never had any business classes.

Kilters
I was reading the old posts when I came across this one and it touched a bit of a nerve with me so I had to sound off.
I, like the folks here on the forum, love kilts! I love wearing them (not often enough) I like seeing them, I like talking about them with fellow kilt crazies, and I love the little biz that I have that makes kilts.
As I see it, there are many days in the week and many occasions to wear whatever kind of kilt works for you at that time. When I am working at a Games or something and I see someone wearing say a UK or a sport kilt, I dont think "Ugh!" I think "right on!" someone who values a kilt!
When in doubt, I say get them both! One for Mon one for Tues then get a nice tartan for Sunday best situations!
Who doesn't like trying and collecting things that they like? Beer, foods, classic cars, classier women (I suggest one at a time...) etc...
I suppose that this is a bit naive for the world of business, but I dont care. This is something I enjoy. And I am happy to do it.
The only part I hate is the bloody taxes and book keeping!
Yours in pleats!
Josh aka Sumokilt!
