    How about this:

I got it made by a friend, complete with my initials.
The watch is new, but the chain is an heirloom from my greatgrandfather, who got it in 1916 in exchange for a golden one he gave to support Germanys war efforts.

I've been a geologist too long.

I looked at the first picture and was convinced it was a Brunton pocket transit (i.e., a geologists compass) but thought it looked a little small. Anyway, very nice looking watch! Looks great with the outfit.

Very very nice. Your pic reminded me of a very similar watch and pouch I received as a Christmas gift some years ago. I went upstairs and got it out. Watch needs a new battery but now I have a new way to wear it.

    Thanks.

That's a great idea! I have a Russian pocket watch with an enameled icon of the Mandylion on the case that I need to take to the watchsmith for a little repair of the winding mechanism.

I'd love to find a little leather case for it like that one! What a fantastic gift!

On or about our fifth Christmas together my wife gave me a gold watch and chain which I only used for special occasions but not with Scottish Attire since it was gold in color but being persistant I went down to a watch store and purchased a silver watch chain and after returning home I took out my Dremel with an abrasive disc and went to work getting the gold coloring off the watch and attached knife...the coloring wouldn't come off knife or watch or chain, it was all 10 Kt. Gold. So if you ever see me walking around with a gold chain in my PC waistcoat pockets instead of the accepted silver you'll understand that I didn't have a choice...

    Chris.
