Very true, but I think from a customer service stand point that could have been delivered way better to a first time customer.

I dress in black 100% of the time, the kilt matched to anything black that I own is Navy Blue...I had a friend over last night and she can see the color difference too. Lets put it this way, after going to school and wearing Navy blue for more than 10 years (nun school and had to wear an uniform) I know the difference, I was just shocked by the color of kilt that I recieved.
Now it will be nice if they have a warning on the site that states that your Black might have grey, blue or green undertones. So you know what to expect.
I really do not know if we are going to sent it back and get a smaller size, I do not feel like paying $10 on shipping on top of what already paid (I know what it says on the site about returns)...now hey /sarcastic moment/ maybe a different kilt size will mean a different kilt color!?

Or sell it here on Xarks as what it is, a navy blue kilt, and then buy a truly black one from one of our other sponsors, or a more reputable vendor. I own and AK and was considering another, but your experience does make me think twice.

AmeriKilts side of the story
Guys
Voodoo isn't giving you the whole story and we feel like our reputation for excellent customer service is being tarnished because the story perspective is one sided.
Here's what happened:
Voodoo orders a BlackAK, 46/22 and a 46 Black AKbelt
She gets the order within a week.
She then sends us an email that says, basically, the color looks navy blue not black - I want it exchanged and I'm not paying return shipping - oh, and by the way, and make it a 44/22 instead of a 46.
I respond by saying the black you got is the only black we have. Black fabric varies by dye lot and our black - like any black fabric - may look a shade bluer, grayer, whatever - compared to another black fabric.
And here's the part of the email I sent that the she left out of her original post:
If you're unhappy with it - you can return it for a refund - or exchange it for another color.
If you decide to exchange it - please include return shipping of $9.95.
We want all of our customers to be happy and we think AmeriKilts are a fantastic product for a great price. Unfortunately, you can't please every single customer... that's why we offer a very generous return/exchange policy and it's all spelled out on our site.
That's the story.
You can always send me an email directly: michael at amerikilt dot com
thanks

Thank you for posting you side Michael. I think we have now heard both sides of the issue and should leave this as a private matter so as not to tarnish the company nor the customer. Therefore the thread is locked so they can resolve the issue in private.
