I've got a pair of SodHoppers knee-high boots - he sewed a sheath into the top of the right boot for me.
They're not actually "historical," but they offer me exactly what I need in footwear: good ankle support, good traction, and a place to stick my orthotics.
Mine are two-toned redwood and tobacco buffalo hide in a "natural" edge cuff at the top, and brown antler buttons.
They look good with a feileadh bhreacain - nothing to completely jar the eye, anyway - and keep me walking better than any other pair of shoes I've got. My set's got at least twelve years of walking in 'em, at least one weekend a month and one week solid every year.
