Since nothing is mentioned for October, and I know for a fact several of us on the board here celebrate our birthday on October 3rd, that must be good for something.

What I didn't know, I share my birthday with:

January 17 --Author Compton Mackenzie (Whisky Galore etc) born. (1883)

What I did know, I share my Wedding Anniversary with:

January 25 --Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Bard, born Alloway. (1759) Traditional night of Burns Supper.

I work with many Scots but am always amazed at how many do not know when Burns Night is (and I'm English!).

The Camerons wore the kilt for the last time in action at Dunkirk, from 26 May to 3 June, 1940.

You can see one of the kilts at the Clan Cameron Museum in Achnacarry, Scotland:

    http://www.clan-cameron.org/museum.html

The 51st Highland Division fought on while the remainder of the BEF was evacuated at Dunkirk, and subsequently became POW's; during their tenure, the "Reel of the 51st" was created by Scottish officers:

You'll see a picture of a Kilted Cameron here.

    Cheers,

    Todd
