I had a similar comment when I was in a pub in the Blue Mountains (just outside of Sydney) when I was setting up to play a gig one afternoon: the guy came up and shook my hand and said "Mate, if I'd known you'd be in a kilt I would've worn mine!".

It seems there are a few guys around who have kilts, but reserve them for 'special' occasions like weddings etc. - they seem a impressed to see someone kilted 'casually'. This can only lead to one thing - more guys getting around kilted!

It was the first time I'd been out kilted for a whole day in public and the response was generally fantastic. One young drunk guy thought about 'lifting', but my icy stare made him change his mind. I'm darn glad too, 'cos although I'm pretty big (6' 3" & 210lbs) he was a bit bigger than me and probably 15 years younger - I could do without confrontations with the likes of him!

Cheers,
