I'm driving to the Glasgow Games in a couple of weeks. It's a little over a 4 hour drive. And I'm going to use Josh's technique, myself. I figure 4 hours time sitting on the pleats will have them creased for life.

I prefer driving in a kilt...so far just done fairly short 4 hours drives ( tulsa to dallas)..
the true test will be when I drive to cape cod from tulsa in an ebay tank in two weeks.
I'll post something about it ( and some pics if I can figure a way to photograph myself when travelling alone without getting mugged/robbed/killed).

I try to play it by ear. I have done both.
I try to show up to where ever looking my best .... and some days that can be a chore!
Especially when you eat and drive.
Nothing says "Trust me I am the kilt man!" like curry or pizza stains on your kit!
LOL!

maybe that's the only part they saw, and they thought you were pulling off any undergarments, as if to cheer for your wearing the kilt the "right way"

Now for the truth to come out about Josh
The Sultan (Josh) and I were at McMennamins in Portland Or and he did offer to flash several ladies. He has been known to lack decorum at times. I wont get into details about Joshs peculurarities, but sometimes he even,
no, I cant repeat that here.

This one gets my vote. You see, the secret is in having TWO kilts - one to wear while traveling and the other to change into when you arrive. My traveling kilts are all cotton casuals. They are very comfortable for the long haul, and I do not care if the pleats get wrinkled (embrace the inevitable.)
The changing is easy, too. Undo all but the inside strap on the first kilt. Strap the second kilt on over the first one, just a little higher. Reach inside the aprons, undo the last strap on the first kilt, and use a little hip action to shake the first one loose and properly seat the second one. Easy to do AND preserves "the secret."

when I drive to cape cod from tulsa
That's a long drive. I have done Cape Cod to San Deigo a few times when I lived in So Cal...never kilted, though. I grew up on the Cape and will be visiting family over the 4th.
I'll keep an eye for those ebay tanks, KT
I do enjoying driving kilted these days.
Cheers
