Did you happen to get the details of the kilt that Roman gentlemen was wearing. It is rather splendid.

The cloth ... is that 1,600 oz worsted bronze? Bet it does not blow up in a jolly good gust.

    hose...

I have a set of hose like Hamishs, although in Oatmeal with green dicing. They're sometimes referred to as "shooting hose" because they are worn with shooting attire (plus fours, tweed) -- mine are from the Almost Unwearoutable Sock Company in Northumberland.

HRH the Duke of Rothesay also wears them frequently with his kilts.

    Cheers,

    Todd

Wow! Thanks for all the nice comments, Guys. We'd have taken a lot more photos had the weather been better.

The hose? I've worn this pair with my 'X Marks...' kilt in other photos - where you all been?!!!! They were among a selection I bought from 'The Sock Company' (www.sock-co-country.co.uk) at the end of last year. As soon as I saw this blue/yellow pair I just knew they'd be right for the 'X Marks...' tartan - and they are!

Here is a group photo of the hose I chose!!!

He certainly was, Cloves. Well, Romans DID, y'know - they knew what was right! His was rather flimsy-looking and considerably shorter than either of ours, but he had some heavier kit on top to keep things in place. Heck! If the Romans could get away with short garments like that, why can't I? They'd be great for the summer, and with legs like mine......!!

It is indeed, KCW. Yes, I use this sporran quite a lot really, considering that I usually only wear one when I really HAVE to. It is a very casual model but it comfortably holds considerably more than any other of my sporrans - including (really sorry, David) my two super Freelanders.

Now I can tell Ham is in the XMarks tartan, Mark is that Scottish National you are wearing?
You "tell" correctly, of course and, since Mark is on his travels, I'll jump his gun and confirm on his behalf that he was wearing the Scottish National - a semi-trad from Rocky (and very nice indeed it is too - can't wait for my Irish National from him!!)

It was very splendid indeed. The rest of his outfit was a little OTT, but I loved his 'kilt' and would like one similar - for the warmer (and less windy) weather!

Spot on, with the 'fabric'. It would take a hurricane at least to lift THAT hem!

Ah! That could have been in Vinter's Court, Kent Wharf, Bull Wharf, Stew Lane or any of the other riverside spots off Upper Thames Street. Nice. Very nice, but very 'touristy' now with the new Millennium Bridge so near.
