Very nice indeed, Derek. I used to do fretwork when at school (1940s!!), but we were only allowed to work with thin plywood - which kept splitting!!
I'll have to commission you to do a house-plate for me: "Ham's Hovel"? "Kollection Kastle"? "The Rampant Sporran"? No. Oh well, I'll think of something suitable soon...........

    dwg69,

My hobbies tend to center around my garden. Gardening, my little pond, a small garden railroad (which involves a lot of bonsai technique to keep the Japanese maples and other trees the right size).

I do like working with wood (I made a bunch of "Sgian Don't" bottle openers I posted on another thread). I build and modify little buildings for my train yard. l have made several housesigns for friends and family. Though I certainly do not have the steady hand and patience that you have to do that careful scroll saw work. I also love going into my little garage workshop with my son and making toys for him. He really wanted a Nautilus submarine like the one in Walt Disney's "20,000 Leagues under the Sea". I couldn't find one . So I made it for him. Since then he has added the Argo, a pirate ship, a viking longboat, and a number of other wood toys to his fleet.

My wife and I also were very much into dancing (ballroom, swing, west coast swing, victorian balls, and even a Scottish country dance class) but with two small children we don't get to do much of it nowdays.

Lastly, I love motoring about (day trips in my Mustang convertible) and playing a bit of golf.

    So now you know.

    Cheers

Very cool. I have alot of respect for wood workers, 'cause if you screw up, you have to start over.
