Old Marines Never Die...They Just Kilt Up

 Another X Marks rendezvous.

Steve Ashton, owner of Freedom Kilts was in Arizona with his wife for her mother's funeral. They took a side trip up to Flagstaff to spend some time with this old canyon rat and my lady who came in from Page and Hopi respectively. We all took in the Pride in the Pines.

That's my new Fraser Casual from Rocky - my hot weather kilt...it was well into the 90s. Steve was in his desert camo with his new kilt hose from the kilt hose making rig he has now.

Think there were only two other kilts at the Pride festival - a leather bear in a black UK original and a supervisor at the beer tent in a UK tan original.

Surprising for Flagstaff, where contemporary kilts and traditional tartans are not uncommon at all

My tank top reads, "Canada looks better every day." thought that would be a fitting welcome for Steve.

Great when XMarker's can get together. I'm sure Steve appreciated the shirt, and I bet you were both cooler than the nonkilted. I've been surprised how well wool blend kilt hose breath - even in the 90's.

			Warrior wear

I myself, consider the kilt a military uniform and the dress of a warrior or combatant. It is no wonder another Marine would feel comfortable wearing it. I so enjoy the work Jeff at Pittsuburge kilts put into my digital MARPAT Kilt.

Boy Jay, the bumpersticker on my car that says "Not as Lean" sure applies to me.
I have six camo kilts - including Jeff's Desert MARPAT and Forest MARPAT and Steve's CADPAT and Desert Camo and I need to lose some weight to wiggle back into them. They all go well in the scrub sage and sand country of the canyonlands.

My AK tiger stripe is tight but wearable. Thank God I can still wear my UK camo.

I know, I know, no one ever drown in sweat....

					What a great looking pair.
You can always tell a Jarhead, shirt is properly bloused at the waist, pockets all buttoned shut and the belt edge lined up perfectly with the shirt edge. I'll bet even the shoe laces are all lined up. Somes things we never forget.

 Both kilts look super

It's not just the Jarheads. I think it's everyone with any military time. I haven't worn an Army uniform for 15 years and I still pay attention to the gig line.
